The supervision of the UMTS transport network generally is executed through a so called Network Management Center. The 3GPP standards define data models, interfaces and interface protocols to that extent.

YAASS (Yet Another Altair Systems Simulator) is a SW product that simulates a NMC operating according to the 3GPP standards. YAASS allows therefore to execute a complete system test the transport network of UMTS NodeBs and RNCs. YAASS has been used over several years a mobile communications network manufacturer.
